Microsoft wants to purchase Yahoo

    The offer, contained in a letter to Yahoo's board, is 62% above Yahoo's closing share price on Thursday.

    Yahoo cut its revenue forecasts earlier this week and said it would have to spend an additional $300m this year trying to revive the company.

    It has been struggling in recent years to compete with Google, which has also been a competitor to M*****ft.

    n a conference call, Microsoft's Kevin Johnson said that the combination of the two companies would create an entity that could better compete with Google.

    "Today the market [for online search and advertising] is increasingly dominated by one player," he said.

    a f*ckd up search engine.. not to say yahoo's search is doing good this time, its actually not. its already filtering some hits and tis gonna get worse when MS takes over and spread their DRM love across the internets.. it most likely would improve the online experience of Win users by integrating Yahoo's other online services but then again they might use it to possibly lock out "others".

    fortunately its not likely to happen coz when it does it surely is gonna raise lots of eyebrows in the corporate world. and the EU if not the US govt will look into possible antitrust violations again. :lol:
