Internet service provider dangles free burgers

SUBSCRIBE to a Pacific Internet Philippines' pre-paid Internet service and get a free burger.

With cutthroat competition in the local pre-paid Internet market,
Pacific Internet Philippines has come up with this relatively new idea of bundling an information technology-related service with fastfood.

It has partnered with Filipino fastfood giant Jollibee Corp. for this promo scheduled from February 22 to April 30, 2005.

Pacific Internet indicated in its website that this promo bodes well for students.

"In this difficult time, savings is key especially for the students, with the high cost of education and other expenses. However, they can now save their allowances for lunch, merienda, or dinner when they buy special edition 22-hour Surf Maxx 100-peso prepaid Internet cards," the Internet service provider said.

The promo is available only in Jollibee outlets in Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Baguio, and Cebu.

This unorthodox bundling of products is not new to the Philippine market. Mobile phone operators have previously tied up with fastfood chains like McDonalds to attract more subscribers to their services.

Both Globe Telecom and Smart Communications now allow subscribers to load pre-paid credits electronically in some local McDonalds outlets.
