a BTS or CELL SITE has two cabinets one for GSM BTS and the other is NODE B 3G

if your using a Phone with 3G capable you will go to 3G .. if you are using non-3G phones you will go to GSM

so its a separate frequency and spectrum (much like dedicated)

good thing about 3G phones its backward compatible in case the Node B is out of service in one area when you roam.. the hand over from one cell site to another would not be a problem

SMART and GLOBE will not phase out the BTS GSM considering most people still uses non3G phones

so SMART find alternative.. instead of buying expensive 3G phones.. try to buy a USB Dongle 3G for only about 4.5K which is more likely similar to a low end phones.. but 3G capable..

    nyahahaha :) no worries

its a PC Card Bus yes there is.. but i'm not sure if SMART will provide a SIM Card DATA only.. because if you going to buy a SIM card that can be use for Voice as well chances are pag nawala ng load baka need to reset uli yung 3G settings hehehe

well another best thing about prepaid you do not worry about locking period

yun nga lang bibili ka ng 4.5K

sa LG ko using SMART 3G ok lang sya sa normal browsing and email.. torrent hindi download.. medyo hehehe

mas mabilis pa ang SMARTBRO Canopy ko hehehehe

I wonder if the dongle can take postpaid SMART SIMs.
Reloading and load validity isn't much of a good thing for me personally.

Will the dongle work on Vista 64-bit environment?

they have a monthly plan / postpaid 799 MRR as well, if you opted not to go on prepaid

if its work on 64bit? depends on the software application that you gonna install if it will work on Vista 64bits

    Thanks duhwho!

I already have a postpaid Smart account 5K Plan (consumable) and I think it would be redundant having another account - considering I also have 2 Platinum plans with Globe, too! :)

I wish I could just pop-in my Smart SIM and browse away :)

I'm more concerned on the dongle not being recognized in Vista 64-bit Ultimate...

    no worries hehehe

technically dapat pwde.. since may SMART 3G naman..

why go for dongle? instead of 3G capable phones? so you don't have to re-insert the SIM

  11. boket ganun...pera pera nanaman labanan....kaya nga may 3G phone ngayun.....pero nice balita to....hindi dumenta yung plan nila...sort of a marketing strategy lang yang dongle na yan...

for those who have no 3G phones they can go to dongle a little bit cheaper than a 3G phone

I agree, the dongle provided by Smart Inc. is cheaper compared to 3G-Capable mobiles.

    this one looks good.
currently im a globe user and have another smart sim for internet.
ang hirap palit ng palit ng sim if mag internet ako using phone sa the modem to my laptop.

sana meron nang usb 3gmodem dongle ang cdrking para mas mura :)

also this can be used as a emergency backup internet connection for netcafes.

consider the price difference between a dongle at phone unit na capable ng 3G speed. go buy the phone unit, lol.

at basahin nyo lahat ng disclaimer ng smart, websites na busy or high traffic lagi, technical difficulties, software daw na hindi nila macontrol. in short, wala kang karapatan magreklamo sa kanila kung mabagal ang services, lol.

  18. Ang Bagong Smart Bro

    clarification lang po.

pwede ba yan gamitin kahit saang lugar basta merong signal ang smart? ang alam ko kasi hindi lahat ng cellsite ng smart ay 3G capable.
  19. duhwho

    duhwho staff Staff Member

    only on 3G sites capable

but as of this momment Metro Manila is 90% 3G... sabi nila

eh nationwide they have higher penetration of 3G signal compare to globe.
