their service is not that bad. i give it 2.5 stars out of 5. nux. may monthly rebate cos of frequent downtime

probs pag meron "update" cos it usually take some time bago ma restore ang normal connection.

d2 samon may SMART BRO-KEN amazing wireless broadband

  10. sorry to hear masama ang experience ng iba sa greendot. share ko lang yung sa kin.

I've been using greendot for almost 2 years, sa akin naman, OK sila, mga 4 stars out of 5. I have the 384kbps package; sa speed test.net umaabot ng mga 360kpbs ang download speed ko, upload speed is about 280.

mabilis actually ang speed kasi konti lang ang gumagamit.

    problem lang sa kanila (cons):

    1) yung customer service hotline nila (665555) hirap tawagan from non-PT&T phones
    2) ibang sites blocked/hindi mapuntahan such as tsikot.com. sa ibang ISP, pwede.
    3) medyo nagiging mahal na ang service kasi dami na nag-ooffer nang mas mabilis for less.
    4) downtime is about average 2.5 to 3 times in a month (average duration mga 2-3 hours). 99% of the time ang reason ay "system maintenance/system restoration".

    3) it is not wireless. na-appreciate ko ito nung nagpakabit ako ng isang wireless broadband service recently. rule of thumb: wired is always better than wireless. walang interference, walang weather interruption, walang line-of-sight problems, walang "it all depends on the installer".

    4) may rebate nga kapag nagka-downtime.

suggestion lang sa lahat ng nagbabalak mag-greendot or magpakabit ng kahit anong ISP for that matter:

    1) if your livelihood depends on internet connection (like myself), invest on one "wired" connection and another "non-wired connection". ikaw na bahala kung alin ang main connection kung alin ang backup. it's a worthwhile investment na mababawi mo agad by being able to avoid loss of income during downtime. if possible, keep your dialup modems handy just in case. kung pare-parehong nag-down (tulad ng sa Taiwan earthquake)...force majeure na hehe

    2) always keep an open mind, ask around...get second, third, fourth, etc. opinions.

    3) always consider that all advertising claims are based on "ideal situations". don't bet your livelihood on these advertising claims, use your common sense :)

so far ganito experience ko sa greendot, pag nagbago (i.e. mag-deteriorate) siya sometime in the future, I'll update accordingly.

    FYI I'm based in marikina/antipolo

Wala nam yata madaya pag nagkabit ng router... imean your only getting what bandwidth you pay for.. putting a router will not daya increase your download speed just pecause many pc uses the connection(the PC will share the bandwidth and use one single IP and appear to the ISP as one PC).. a router wont even take toll on your TelCo's power suplly because routers have their own power supply taken from your home electric bill) unlike extension phones that use the phone companies power supply)yun ang madaya..
If ever makakita ka ng ISP who would say will sue you if mahuli gamit ka ng router.. wag ka na mag avail ng service nila... they just want to earn more money and make a fool out of you... when you buy dsl Ithink your buying the bandwidth not the connection... that is if your DSL provider has 1000Mbps total bandwidth and they offer 100Mbps connection.. they can only sell their service to 10 people... 1000/100 =10.... if they sell more ikaw na ang dinadaya...

  12. They really suck. There's even no one answering their customer service. Lousy Support!

Year 2003 Green Dot here in Dipolog is giving good services with fast connection but after sometime it getting worst and worst. Kaya wala na nayang ISP provider na yan dito samin.

  14. I agree, basically adding a router will split your bandwidth to the number of pc's connected. I think kaya dini-discourage ang router, kasi some customers don't know this and complain when they experience slowdowns when using multiple pc's over a single dsl line.
Using a router will also require some networking knowledge and yes it can cause problems if you don't know what you are doing, this makes it difficult for the isp tech support to identify where the problem is.
