    Sad to say, sir, closed na ang Mozcom-Baguio since March of last year, IIRC.

    Sa Manila and Cebu na po ang offices nila afaik. But, they still have Baguio-based people who handle the area, I think.

    If you need to correspond with people there, you can e-mail info[at]mozcom.com or visit their website: http://www.mozcom.com and see the contact page.

    =)

    @sa-joedy

    i know ultracom, baguio. parati ako nag papa print dun noon.

    kaya pala super bagal ang internet nio noon kc naka Mozcom kayo, kita mo nag close na sila.

    at sobra mahal, compared to other isp.

    ^^Super bagal? 512Kbps SDSL powering 80+ PCs is pretty respectable is you ask me.

    Mozcom closed their Baguio branch for reasons other than what you may be thinking. They are still alive and well in Manila and Cebu, fyi: www.mozcom.com

    @Deeza

    di rin namin sila mabagal, kasi tignan mo nman they are sharing 80+ units in a 512Kbps SDSL. at di pa kasi uso noon video streaming kaya, lahat ng customer noon hilig lang nla is MIRC at Yahoo messenger.

    ngayon punta ka sa ultracom mabilis na net nila. tapos magpakilala ka kay sa-joedy

    Well, that was more than 8 years ago na, IIRC, and times have indeed changed. So although it may be funny now, that tech was high-end at that time. The first "real" broadband connections in the city at that time were from Mozcom.

    Ngayon nga, tinatawanan na ang 1Mbps, pero yung iba eh magrereklamo pa na "mabagal" at 3Mbps or higher! Heheh. Xp

    Good to know bro, pldt 3.5mbps na pala connection nyo.

    natawa ako sa 80+ pc powerd by Mozcom internet 512kbps sdsl. kaya pala parang naka dial-up kayo noon. tapos 20,000plus monthly na sinabi mo.

    matagal na yan sir, 4years ago.. syempre malaki na ang pinagbago ngayun.

    yeah, 512kbps sdsl sa maniwala ka at sa hindi sir nag papalaro pa ako ng online games sa 80+pc like ragna,mu,tantra,gunbound etch. hehehe. kaya naging stable kami sa Mozcom kahit mahal, and 1thing more active ang technical nila sa mozcom, unlike other isp kukunin mo pa sa kulitan bago sila reresponde.

    yes, peru hindi nag tagal tinanggal nyo online games sa ultracom dahil super bagal na nung isp nio pa ang mozcom.. hehehe, Dota at Cs yata ang natira. nakahinga ang mga pure browsing.

    ^^I don't seem to remember that happening... Siguro nung nag-Digitel na si Ultracom?

    i can't believe that 80+pc can handle 512kbps kahit na sdsl pa yan, lalo nat nag papa OLgames ka and parating puno ang shop.

    ahh, nag digitel pala sila? at di nag tagal sa pldt rin ang bagsak ^^.
    i remember the year 2007 na binigyan ko ng advice si sir joedy ng mag pldt, keysa sa mag suffer sa ibang isp kc sobrang taas ng presyo.

    ^^Bandwidth is not everything kasi... Kahit na 100Mbps ang bandwidth pipe mo, kung 1s ang average latency, then wala din saysay.

    Yamang andito na rin lang tayo:

    Sa presyo naman, hindi siguro alam ng karamihan na telco facilities ang gamit ng mga non-telco ISP to deliver their services. This is an added cost since tinataga din sila ng telco sa lagay na ito. Kaya nga namatay halos lahat ng non-Telco ISP nung nag-roll-out na mga telco ng competing services nila. Kasi nga, kinatalo nila ang sariling customer. This led to lower prices (for the telcos, as they own the facilities), pero nag-decline na rin ang ibang bagay. Despite this, to date, I think only Mozcom and a handful of others survive as non-telco ISPs.

    Isang factor pa na "nagpapamahal" sa presyo is this: non-Telco ISPs are telco agnostic in terms of upstream connectivity. This means na may mga peering arrangements sila to the telco networks, which again costs so much. Ang net effect nito is, may diversity ang connectivity ng clients nila, which usually translates to better network performance to anywhere.

    :lol: i heard with some of friends in pldt tech na naka conect din kayo sa pldt kaya siguro nag-mahal ang presyo.

    edit: i dont know if its true?

    Mozcom is connected to almost all of the telcos (PLDT, Globe, Bayantel, Digitel) and associated with players in the industry, even upto now.

  20. At josekym - musta? si hector v.? san na? old post na to ah.... kami nila hcv ang nag setup ng DSL sa Ultracom nung unang labas palang ng DSL sa Baguio...puro dial-up kasi noon eh.
