Networking issue (noob here)

    Eto po ang scenario..

    Meron ako media player box na pwede kong iupdate ang contents gamit ang computer ko using the software from the media player manufacturer.
    Ang media player ay gagana using LAN or WAN.

    Pag LAN ang setup ko, using the local IP, nag coconnect ang media player sa computer ko.

    Pero kapag WAN ang setup ko, using the IP na nakukuha ko sa like, hindi na nagana. Hindi na nag coconnect ang media player sa server ko.


    Nasakit na ang ulo ko. Hindi ko alam kung anong gagawin.

    Do you have a router between the media box and the modem (Internet connection)? You may need to setup port-forwarding or similar on the router to make it work from WAN-side.

    Also, you may not be able to manage your media device using its WAN-side when you are behind the same router as well (i.e. LAN-side). Most routers will block this type of access as "Internet NAT redirect" or similar. You should test the WAN side access from an external connection.
