Have you noticed how the ISP's are now making some "minimum speed guarantee"?

PLDT is min 30% subscribed speed for 80% of the time.

SKYbroadband minimum speed is 40% of subscribed speed with 80% reliability.

So for 20% of the time, they make NO guarantee.

Typical home internet is the busiest from 6:00PM to 10:30PM. That' is 4:30 hours out of 24 hours. 20% of the day is 4 hours and 48 minutes.

Restating the guarantee - they guarantee you get NO service for almost 5 hours, and only 30% of service level for the remainder of the time (when you are not home to use it).

It would seem minimum speed guarantees are all worthless marketing noise and nothing else, and provide zero real protection.
