the web config is easy to configure but sometimes its buggy.
But using another firmware, it can be fixed :)

the files can be accessed via web and via the My Network Places in your windows xp. its like windows pc sharing but only with username/password.

so far i like it and its usefull...

    encores default firmware is BAD!
lots of bugs. especially the ftp uploading from ipcamera.

after searching, i found out you can install firmwares from other brand names
    but with the same hardware

these are the compatible firmwares for encore ENNHD-1GS
(too bad encore dont provide the latest firmwares for their gadgets)

    allnet 6260
    Longshine LCS-8311

for diehard modders you can use longshine due to lots of addons for its firmware.
you can install php server, mysql server, additional torrent clients, ftp server, etc..
so your encore Encore ENNHD-1GS nas will now be a full power mini linux server (web based) :)

pero if you are just plain user who wants easy and clean looking web config.
use allnet 6260 firmware, its way way better and cleaner than encore.

    will add howto soon..

5800 bux for that? Hindi pa kasali ang HDD.

For about the same amount you can buy the ff.:

    1. BLKD945GCLF -Intel Atom 1.6Ghz ITX motherboard = 2800
    2. 1GB DDR2 Kingston module stick = 790
    3. Astone Enforcer Mini (EM-ITX-B) = 1400

    Total = 4,990

maski old pc(katulad nung post nung mga nauna) eh pwedeng pwede jan sa NAS na yun... mahal talaga sya kung bibili ka for a NAS, mas maganda save na lang money for additional HDD(just what like unwired recommend) SATA supported, and atleast capabale of raid 1

One thing to consider when choosing to use an old PC instead is the power consumption. Running an old PC 24/7 could consume enough power in one year to pay for the cost of the lower powered NAS.
