Woman fined £16,000 for illegally downloading a game
Pirates beware: developers could be about to bite back
A British woman has been ordered to pay US game developer Topware Interactive £16,000 after illegally downloading one of its PC games Dream Pinball. Microsoft Backs Apache and Open Source
In the past Microsoft has been hostile to the open source movement. But At OSCON, Microsoft announced their sponsorship of "The Apache Software Foundation", joining Google and Yahoo! at Platinum level. Microsoft donated US $100k (minimum requirement, MS did not disclose how much money it had contributed) to Apache foundation. This sponsorship will enable the ASF to pay administrators and other support staff so that ASF developers can focus on writing great software.

Information highway
Imagine a world where the internet is so fast that personal data storage units are obsolete, and HD films can be downloaded in seconds. With the switching on of the CERN particle accelerator this year, technology has taken one step closer to that reality.
At a depth of some 50-175 metres underground, running across the borders of Switzerland and France, lies CERN's (European Organisation for Nuclear Research) Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the biggest high-energy particle accelerator in the world.
Science institutes and governments around the world have pumped up to US$10 billion into the project, which ...

The fastest '100Mbps' service was delivered by LG Powercomm with an average speed of 91Mbps, the KCC found.
The average speed of all 100Mbps service p ...
