GlobeDSL News Globe is now offering 10 MB and 100MB Internet PLANS!!!!

GPON or the Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Network, a fiber-to-the-home technology.
The monthly service fee for the 10Mbps is Php3,995 while the 100Mbps is Php14,995. Serviceable areas are very limited as of the moment — Forbes Park and Serendra this June and Bel-Air Village and Urdaneta Village in July.

Announcements Microsoft has released its second Service Pack for Office 2007 today.


Service Pack 2 includes some significant changes, including built-in ability to save as ODF & PDF formats, improvements to Outlook's performance and calendar reliability and significant bug fixes for charts in core Office applications. It is also a rollup of all fixes that have previously been released for Office 2007 products.

The company has published a support article detailing the various fixes and improvements contained in the SP2 update. According to the document there are improvements in the following areas, to name but a few:

Scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology may have created the ultimate green battery technology: They’ve engineered a virus that could potentially form a battery that would outlast and out power those available today.

The fastest consumer broadband in the world is the 160-megabit-per-second service offered by J:Com (the largest cable company in Japan.)

Pricing (at liberty) varies widely by market.

  • In Japan, its 160 Mbps service costs 6,000 yen ($60) per month. That's only $5 a month more than the price of its basic 30 Mbps service.
  • In the Netherlands, meanwhile, it charges 80 euros ($107) for 120 Mbps service and 60 euros ($81) for 60 Mbps.
  • In the US, cable companies, like Comcast and Cablevision, that are moving quickly to install the fast broadband technology, called Docsis 3, are charging as much as $140 a month for 50 Mbps service.
